back in place

while at home for the holidays i spent a lot (and i mean a lot) of time watching hgtv. i even found a favorite show: color splash. it's hosted by a reality show winner, so you know i'm gonna be all about it. in one episode he created my ABSOLUTE DREAM KITCHEN:

  • cherry red and lime green
  • chalkboard paint (helloooo previous blog post!)
  • whimsical drawer pulls from anthropologie
  • white ceramics
  • faux wood
  • letters/numbers/punctuations galore

was this man reading my mind?? i think yes. he also taught me i have the exact same taste as a trio of gay men. i'm alright with that.

YATTA!

even though I am SICK OFF MY BUM, I am very happy right now. I just realized that after this week, I will be HALF WAY DONE WITH MY INTERNSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't tell whether it has gone slow or fast, but it certainly has gone somewhere. in honor of this great news, I have updated our playlist with a few songs and am posting the most obnoxiously happy video I know of:

yatta!

dream job?

new york event planner amy atlas specializes in creating custom dessert tables for weddings, birthdays, parties, showers and mitzvahs both bar and bat (alec baldwin on friends...anyone?). Basically she gets to bake/buy tons of color coordinated goodies and arrange them in pleasing-to-the-eye ways. when i see things like this i immediately think "why is this not my job?"

glorious

i want need a "big chill" fridge. i don't mind that it's not real vintage. i don't mind that rachel ray has one in her fake tv kitchen. i don't mind that it costs $3000 (what is the going price for a boring refrigerator?) just LOOK at these colors!
don't even get me started on the matching stoves and dishwashers.....

i love a good collage

i never got into the scrapbooking craze, and i'm glad i didn't because i could never produce anything as cool as the ladies in the red velvet kit club. i'd love to become a member just to get my hands on their monthly kits of cute papery goodness.

heeeere we go!

i realize i've been neglectful....school certainly has a way of getting between me and cute things. but now i'm back and better than ever.

illustrator linzie hunter has produced a series of prints based on the subject lines from spam emails. most are humorous, some are surprisingly inspirational!

buy her prints at thumbtack press (a great site for wasting/investing time in its own right)

WOWWOWWOW

No, this is not a joke. Yes, you can buy your very own kitty wig for 50 dollars (in 4 colors, of course).

"Blonde sets off your kitty’s eyes and makes your kitty look tan."
- Direct quote from site

Cue laughter.

bigger = better

this will be my last post for a few days while i travel to boston (!!) so of course i'm going to leave you with something mega cute. and by mega i mean ridiculously, unnecessarily, wonderfully over-sized.

genius pads from megasticky.com. imagine the possibilities!

cute things at target? shocking.

on my most recent trip to target (the mecca of cute, if you will) i was floored by their new selection of shoes for fall. rich colors. unique styles. but seriously, should i have expected anything less?

no words. just enjoy.

Details: Shia LaBeouf

too cute. must visit.

if you can't make the financial commitment to bunny lane (see below because i don't know the code for a jump), perhaps you can make a trip up to saskatchewan to check out artist heather benning's life-size dollhouse. benning gutted and renovated an old farm house, adding plexiglass walls to one side so visitors can peek inside at the 60's inspired interior. she left the outside basically as-is, making for a really interesting contrast.

warning: this post contains lots of unnecessary hyphens

it's safe to say that i would be perfectly happy outfitting my entire home with furniture and accessories from CB2 (crate and barrel's ultra-hip offspring).
today i give you crazy-affordable pop art plates!

you'll be invited to my lichtenstein-themed party for sure.

are these people reading my mind?

furniturea (ignore the thoughts of an upset stomach you get from hearing their name) makes modern, aesthetically pleasing furniture that comes in 22, yes that's right 22, lovely colors. there's something slightly alice-in-wonderland about their designs that makes me think all sorts of nice thoughts.

what's that? you are a color snob who can't find what you're looking for within their palate? well, everything is also completely customizable. oh snap.
